Paladin

Profession : Warrior

Age : 19

Race : Bantari Centaur

Originates From : the Upper Plains

History :    Before he was born, while his mother was pregnant with him, Paladin's tribe of centaurs (who were normally peaceful and just), led by his father, were forced to fight a neighbouring tribe who were trying to take over their lands and hunting grounds. They won, but the enemy's shaman put a curse upon their tribe.
Crops started dying and game became scarce on their hunting grounds. Perfectly healthy members of the tribe suddenly died and no more children were born. The last child to be born was Paladin, but the effects of the curse caused him to be a wyrd.
Even though he was not a horse-centaur, he was still raised like he was normal. But it was obvious that the tribe was dying and there was not much time left for them. So Paladin was taught the traits  his father hoped would guide him and keep him from harm and evil in the world as he would soon be alone (the shaman had, mockingly, said that the Chieftain's son would be heir to nothing). Paladin learned to fight and survive, but also he was taught honour and the values of loyalty and courage. e was greatly influenced by stories of chivalrous knights in armour and of great deeds performed by centaur heroes and members of the tribe in times past, and Paladin aspired to these.
His father was the last to die, and suddenly Paladin was alone. There was nothing left for him and his homeland was ruined by the curse, so he travelled to see the rest of Caevalonia, often stopping to help travellers or merchants under attack from bandits, but never staying long in the same place. Finally he met a wyrd who called herself Exile. She toldhim about her wish to find the lost city Uth Teleros and he asked to join her on the quest.

Personality :     Although he is a ferocious fighter (helped by the bantari side of him) Paladin is also compassionate and has an even temper. He holds honour to be very valuable and is loyal and would never betray anyone. He doesn't like to lie and is honest. He secretly desires to become a knight, but does not know how realistic this idea is.

Weaknesses :     Sometimes his sense of honour can leave him open to attack, and as Paladin can be a little naive at times the other Seekers have to make sure the young warrior doesn't let people manipulate or take advantage of him.

Skills :    Paladin's skill is his fighting ability. He is also good at mending damaged armour and broken items.

Special Abilities :    Paladin does not really have and special powers. He is strong though, and can run as fast as any horse centaur. he can also climb better than a normal centaur as he is half-cat.

Weapons :    Paladin carries a bastard sword which he has slung over his back, and he is very good using both sword and shield in combat. His claws are razor sharp, and his 'second' set of arms (The under-developed second set of forelegs that all bantari have) are very useful in fights for swiping and batting at opponents as he uses his more humanoid arms to fight with his sword and shield.

Relationships :
Exile
;    He thinks Exile is a good leader, and always does as she says, although sometimes he offers her his own advice too. They are friends, but Paladin is slowly coming to realise that he thinks he actually loves Exile, but has not told her his real feelings.

Seer;    He thinks that Seer should learn to know the extent of her own abilities better, but she won't listen when he tells her this. Otherwise the two get along.

Hybrid;    Paladin does not think stealing is honourable, and disagrees a lot with Hybrid's methods. He also gets rather annoyed with Hybrid calling him 'Buggy' all the time.

Ecu;    Paladin does not really get bothered by Ecu as the firecat does not find him as much fun to tease as the others.

Kyei Sham; Paladin likes Kyei and she always seems to be nice to him (he hasn't quite realised yet that she has something - to say the least - of a crush on him!).
